My dear, dear friend Shelly and I headed into the city on Friday and stopped by the Ferry Building because I really just couldn’t live with myself being so close to Blue Bottle, but not having a cup. Yikes, that’s a bit extreme, but I mean, Shelly had never had Blue Bottle Coffee, and we were so close by, and the line was so short, and oh, how nice a latte would be with our just-out-of-the-oven croissants from Acme Bread Company…It seems only logical when you look at it that way, right?
And besides, I was in a very French mood because only minutes before I had picked up my visa from le Consulat Général de France à San Francisco, and was feeling pretty filled up avec excitation (and that shouldn’t mean the sexuelle type) for my trip which is now only thirty-two days away!!
The first thing that the man to issue my passport asked was, “Do you know you are going to be staying in the most beautiful city in all of France?” Ahhhh! My first encounter with a Nantais! He gave me recommendations for things to do in town, and told me to say hi to his parents. I said I would. Should have asked for their address.
My visa is good until 1 July 2011, so allons-y!
